The Oath of a Leader...

"...I will cooperate with, promote, and protect the best interests of the Tribe in accordance with the Constitution of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, so help me God."

Constitution of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of LA,1999.
Heni! So Glad You're Here.
Welcome!! One of the most important events of our Tribe is soon to be upon us...Election 2026. Our bi-annual elections are the one and only time that our Tribal citizens can weigh in on the future of our Tribe and express their desire for leadership that will guide our people through and beyond this 21st century!!

Every elected official takes an oath. It is an oath that invokes the Creator, our God, to help support us in this most auspicious role...the responsibility for our people, to do everything we can to protect and support them.

Whenever a Council leader makes a decision, it must be in the best interests of our people, our citizens, especially for our children and grandchildren as they are the future of the Tunica-Biloxi Nation!!

Leadership is not easy...and when carried out under the oath to our God, a tribal leader is obligated to act for the benefit of our community members today and for generations to come. A strong tribal leader MUST HAVE COURAGE and be willing to speak out against actions that would harm community members. A good tribal leader MUST BE A VOICE FOR ALL OUR PEOPLE.

I have always had that courage. I have acted in the best interests of the Tunica-Biloxi people. I have placed benefits to the Tribe, to our members, young & old alike, above my own personal position. I will always put the Tribe first as Secretary/Treasurer!!
TRUTH
HONESTY
DIGNITY
RESPECT
COMPASSION
Principles to Pass On to our Young People, the Leaders of the Future
I humbly and most sincerely ask for your vote in Election 2026.
BRENDA LINTINGER

Dearest Fellow Tribal Member,
I wanted to write to share news about our upcoming tribal election. I plan to run for Secretary-Treasurer of our Tunica-Biloxi Indian Tribe of Louisiana. It’s been several years now that I’ve considered this action. After a lot of thought and conversations with my family, I am ready to take on this challenge.
I have spent nearly three decades working for the tribe, and in truth, it was the only work I wanted to do with my whole heart. I have loved working for our tribal community. And I really did not want to stop. But God puts us where He wants us to be in His timing. Looking back to five years ago, it was time for me to step away whether I wanted to or not.
We hear often about how precious the tribe’s sovereignty is. I can tell you, equally important are the rights, the civil rights, of the Tunica-Biloxi people as individuals under this tribal government. That is what I plan to support and push for if elected to the position of Secretary-Treasurer.
Every citizen of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Nation has a right to know what, how and why our laws are created. To understand the intent behind the creation of our laws is to understand the character and intention of those who create and adopt the laws. Our people have a right to know what goes on within our tribal government—exactly what decisions are made, the projected costs of those decisions and the outcomes of the actions of those charged with implementing the decisions made by tribal leaders.
Just as important is the fact that our people have no idea what the full financial picture of our tribe is. We have been given bits and pieces here and there, but there is no way to know if the tribe is better off today than it was a year ago or six years ago. I want that to change.
I want our people to see exactly where the tribe stands financially. I would like for our people to be provided with a complete and comprehensive picture of the financial position of our tribal community. We have not been given that detail in many years now. And the time is long overdue for our community to know and fully comprehend what kinds of deals, plans, and projects are being sought by tribal leaders and how their pursuits will impact the future stability of our tribal government, in particular, how the programs our members benefit from will be affected by those decisions.
I need your help to do this, to run this race and win. To win not for myself but for our people, for the elders, for the families, and for our children and grandchildren.
I want to ask you to help me get the vote out, to reach out to every family member, to encourage them to vote for definitive change. Many have campaigned on change, but no real change has occurred. Faces have changed, but the way ‘business’ is conducted really has not.
The most important thing to me is that the people be given the information necessary for them to fully and fairly evaluate the performance of our elected officials. Our elections are often popularity contests, but I would hope to see that changed, to see the political outcomes be based upon the commitment and pure dedication to the welfare of our tribe by any and all candidates. Will you do this? Can you do this with me?
Our Tunica-Biloxi community members have always held a special place in my heart for these 30 years…and you always will, regardless of the election’s outcome. I’m here for all of you if ever I can be of service. God bless,
With great affection,
Brenda Lintinger
